Percy's quest to save his mother from Hades' grasp in the underworld is the main plot point of the third episode of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. There are many mythical figures in this episode, and the stories haven't been changed to fit contemporary tastes. While certain elements of the series have been updated, the mythological content has remained consistent with the original work. James Bobin should be commended for his fantastic and appropriate portrayal of every mythological creature in the series. But after viewing the third episode, certain queries can come up. Why does Percy think he can't trust his friends? Why does Medusa attempt to harm them?
